Minister Zaha Waheed attends the “Pacific Island Nations Marine Conservation and Maritime Security” and a series of workshops regarding marine spatial planning commencing in Auckland, New Zealand from the 3rd to the 6h of September. This workshop is held by the Blue Prosperity Coalition, in partnership with the Environmental Law Institute (ELI), Waitt Institute, and IUCN Oceania and will concentrate on drafting legal framework for marine spatial planning. During these seminars, representatives of island nations and territories will explore the best practices for the development of marine spatial planning legal frameworks and to enhance their capacity to protect their marine resources. Additionally, the aim of the Blue Prosperity Workshop series is to foster networking and knowledge-sharing to achieve the common goals of all island nations and territories. The purpose of attending these meetings are to share with like-minded nations regarding the marine spatial planning and enforceability of the Maldives, and as well as to garner the help needed for the development process of the planning. Furthermore, the Minister will be meeting with the personnel from these institutions in order to gather knowledge the best practices in utilizing our oceans and resources.
