Foreign Minister Shahid engages with UN Country Team

The Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid met with the United Nations Country Team today, during their annual retreat.

During the interaction, the Minister shared his experience as the President of the United Nations General Assembly, noting the important role country teams needs to play in translating what is happening in New York to the local level, help connect the various processes, and find opportunities for projects and examples from the national level, to be featured in events and processes globally.

The Minister also thanked the UN Country team led by the UN Resident Coordinator for the dedication, commitment and for supporting the development path of the Government of Maldives.

The Minister requested UN Country Team to discuss ways to enhance coordination and work together towards the implementation of the United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF) 2022-2026.

The Minister was accompanied by Joint Secretary Mariyam Midhfa Naeem, Assistant Director Aishath Shahula, and Assistant Director Ahmed Salman Zaki.
