Minister of Foreign Affairs of Maldives, Abdulla Shahid, had a telephone conversation with the Minister for Foreign Affairs of the State of Libya, Najla El Mangoush, today.
The two Ministers reflected on the history of cooperation between Maldives and Libya, and discussed possibilities for further strengthening the ties between the two countries. The Ministers also briefed each other on the situation of the Covid-19 pandemic in their respective countries, and agreed that international cooperation is crucial to ensure that the most vulnerable countries have adequate access to vaccines, and receive much-needed assistance to fully recover from the long-term effects of the pandemic.
Minister Shahid expressed support for the progress being achieved with regard to the political situation in Libya, and conveyed best wishes on behalf of the people of Maldives towards the attainment of lasting peace and prosperity for the people of Libya.
Minister Shahid and Minister Mangoush reaffirmed the commitment of their respective Governments to strengthen bilateral collaboration between Maldives and Libya, and expressed confidence towards continuing to work closely together in international fora.
