The Ministry holds a stakeholder consultation workshop on "Prevention of Plant Pest and Disease" spread in the Maldives from April 5–6, 2023.
The workshop on "Prevention of Plant Pest and Disease Spread in the Maldives" was inaugurated today by Minister Dr. Hussain Rasheed Hassan. The minister urged all stakeholders to discuss the problem seriously and identify the gaps in the laws and regulations addressing the issue of pest and disease entry and its spread in the country.
The workshop was attended by a total of 28 delegates, including the Agriculture Department staff of the ministry, Government Institutions, Farmers, Importers of commodities for agricultural purposes, and experts in the field.
The objective of the workshop was to discuss and come up with effective measures to prevent the spread of plant pests and diseases in the Maldives.
