High Commissioner of the Republic of Maldives to Bangladesh, Her Excellency Shiruzimath Sameer presented credentials to the President of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, His Excellency Md. Abdul Hamid at a ceremony held at ‘Bangabhaban’ the official residence-cum-office of the Honourable President of Bangladesh, today.
The ceremony was attended by the Secretary to the President, Sampad Barua, Secretary attached to Bangabhaban, Md Wahidul Islam Khan, Military Secretary Major General SM Shamim-Uz-Zaman and the Secretary at Ministry of Foreign Affairs Shabbir Ahmad Chowdhury, the Chief of Protocol Amanul Haq and other Foreign Ministry officials.
The Honourable President congratulated the High Commissioner on the commencement of her term and conveyed greetings and well wishes to His Excellency President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and the people of the Republic of Maldives.
The Honourable President Abdul Hamid and the High Commissioner discussed about potential areas of cooperation in which Maldives and Bangladesh could further develop for the mutual benefit of the two countries. Honourable President also assured that Bangladesh will continue to assist and cooperate with the Maldives in all areas. The significance of the preventive measures against covid-19 was also discussed. The High Commissioner expressed sincere appreciation for the continued support and cooperation extended by Bangladesh and assured President Abdul Hamid of her commitment to further strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries during her tenure of office.
High Commissioner Shiruzimath Sameer was accompanied at the ceremony by Mr. Ahmed Fazeel, First Secretary at the High Commission of Maldives in Bangladesh.
