Training programs for Imams of the resorts commenced today. The ceremony to commence the program was conducted through zoom by Minister of Tourism Dr.Abdulla Mausoom.

While Addressing in the ceremony Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr.Ahmed Zahir Ali stated that, upbringing of outstanding imams for the mosques of Maldives is one of the promises of His Excellency President Ibrahim Mohamed Salih. Hence this program will produce quality imams for the resorts. Also he highlighted that Degree program for Imams of Maldives is being continued as well.

Moreover, during the speech of Tourism Minister, he stressed that it’s a great work by ministry as it has prepared this program within a short period of time. The program will enable to produce well trained Imam who can lead the prayer if visiting imam of the resorts fail to show up. As, providing job opportunities with a good salary for Maldivians is a policy put forwarded by His Excellency President Ibrahim Mohamed Salih this program will enhance the opportunity as mentioned. Hence he thanked president.

This training program is set for 5 weeks and it is held in collaboration with Ministry of Tourism and Ministry of Islamic Affairs. A total of 169 participants from 85 resorts has enrolled in the program so far.

The main aim of the program is to train Imams who can lead Friday prayer and other congregational and non-congregational prayers temporarily. Certificate of participation is to be handed over for those who complete this training and will be provided with temporary permit to lead prayers will be given as well by Ministry after the training.
